19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He saved four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
